State-led economic development model in Vietnam during 40 years of renovation

The article analyzes the formation and operation of the state-led economic development model in Vietnam. Based on a comparison with Resolution No. 79 dated January 6, 2026, of the Politburo on the development of the state-owned economy and the data series from 1986-2025, the article points out the structural shift from direct intervention to the role of designing, coordinating, and leading strategy, while also proposing solutions to improve the role of the state economy as the coordinating core of the development ecosystem in a socialist-oriented market economy.
